Safety Highlights
All safety equipment must be up to date and in good condition. Drivers must use a Snell 2020 or newer helmet, approved head-and-neck restraint, fire suit, belts, window net, shoes, gloves, and other protective gear that meet current standards. Safety belts may be no more than three years old (based on the tag date), and fire extinguishers must carry a current-year inspection tag. All ballast must be painted white and marked with the car number. Traction-control devices, on-board computers, processors, recording devices, and hidden brake-line routing are explicitly banned, and violations carry severe penalties, including loss of all prize money and a one-year suspension.
Car, Chassis & Body
Super Late Models run Outlaw-style bodies that must meet specific manufacturer and measurement guidelines. Approved manufactured noses include brands such as Howe, Five Star, ARP, Dominator, and True Force. Minimum body height is 43¼", measured 10" back from the front windshield. Roof panels must be approximately 38" long by 45" wide (measured 10" back from the windshield), with an allowed taper to no less than 39" at the rear window. Rear overhang is limited to 46" from the axle centerline, and overall width is capped at 82" over the front wheels, 72" at the rear bumper, and 86" at the nose tips. Additional body features such as roof fins, side fins, full front and rear windows, and spoiler dimensions (maximum 9" high x 72" wide with a 1" rear lip and max 44" from deck to ground) are strictly defined.
Engine, Ignition & Drivetrain
Super Late Model engine rules allow one carburetor on cast-iron blocks (no aluminum blocks). Engine setback is controlled: the foremost spark plug must be no more than 4½" back from the center of the upper ball joint. Crate engine options (e.g., GM 604 and sealed Ford 347 combinations) must use approved cylinder head, intake, and valve-spring packages, with only limited changes permitted and sealing handled by approved builders; unsealed engines are subject to teardown. The ignition box / rev limiter must be mounted on the right side of the dash out of reach of the driver. All ignition wiring must remain exposed for inspection, and no traction-control electronics of any type are permitted, including GPS-, brake-, or computer-controlled systems.
Weights, Tires & Fuel
All weights are measured with the driver in the car. Maximum left-side weight is 60.0%. Minimum total weight depends on the engine package: - Aluminum-headed built engine: 2700 lb - Cast-iron-headed built engine: 2650 lb - Crate engine program: 2600 lb There is a 10 lb fuel-burn allowance after time trials, and for feature events teams may deduct 1 lb per lap, but cars must start the feature at their correct minimum weight. Tires must be the series-designated Hoosier spec tire, mounted on steel wheels with a maximum 10" bead-to-bead width. Tire soaking or compound alteration is not permitted. Mufflers are mandatory and must be in good working condition.
