GENERAL RULEBOOK

OFFICIAL 2026 GENERAL RULEBOOK

Below is a quick overview of key General rules for all divisions.

This page is only a summary. For complete and official regulations, please download and refer to the full 2026 technical rulebook.

Registration

- Registration forms and fees for Hot Rods, Modifieds, and Super Late Models are available on the OSCAAR website. - All drivers must be registered at least 30 minutes before the scheduled drivers’ meeting. If you miss that deadline, you will start scratch (at the rear) for all qualifying for that event. - At registration, drivers may be required to draw a number to set the heat-race line-ups. - To qualify for an OSCAAR feature event, the driver must make every reasonable effort to qualify. - OSCAAR officials and track management will make every effort to complete or reschedule any events affected by rain.

Disclaimer

These General Rules are written to keep OSCAAR events running in an orderly and consistent manner. They set the minimum acceptable requirements for all events, and by taking part, all participants are considered to have read and agreed to the current rulebook and any official updates. There is no expressed or implied warranty of safety – racing is inherently risky, and this rulebook is a guide, not a guarantee against injury or death for drivers, crew, officials, or spectators. The Competition Director and/or designated tech officials may allow minor deviations or add restrictions that do not reduce the minimum standards. Any interpretation of these rules is at the discretion of OSCAAR officials, and their decisions are final.

general regulations & behaviour

- No intoxicating or controlled substances may be consumed before or during the race by anyone in the pit area; violations can result in fines, points reduction, suspension, and/or expulsion. - Before entering the pit or infield area, all drivers, owners, and crew must sign the required release, registration, and/or entry forms. Anyone in these areas who has not signed will be considered a trespasser. - Drivers are responsible for their own actions as well as the actions of their crew and family members. Penalties to crew can affect the driver and/or registered car owner. - Any abuse of OSCAAR or host track officials – including verbal, physical, or online/cyber abuse – is strictly prohibited and may result in suspensions and/or fines. - Any car may be mechanically inspected at any time, and OSCAAR officials reserve the right to accept or reject any driver or car. - All participants may be subject to random drug/sobriety testing, and a dress code is in effect in the “hot” pit area once feature events begin (no shorts, sandals, or sleeveless shirts). - Anyone whose behaviour disrupts the orderly running of the program or harms the reputation of OSCAAR may be considered to have abused their membership privileges and may face revoked privileges, fines, and/or disqualification.

Technical Inspection

All cars must complete technical and safety inspection before any on-track activity. Cars must arrive on time and be presented for inspection in a professional manner. Competitors must cooperate with all inspection requests, including any teardown or installation of inspection holes/ports in the frame, roll cage, bars, engine components, and similar parts. OSCAAR is not responsible for any payment, reimbursement, damage, or loss resulting from inspections. Non-compliance with any rule may result in: Expulsion from the OSCAAR Series (including possible lifetime bans), Disqualification from the event with loss of all money and points for that event, and/or Points and/or monetary fines. Any one or combination of these penalties may be applied depending on the infraction.

race Procedures

Once a race has passed halfway, if unforeseen circumstances prevent completion, OSCAAR officials may declare the race complete based on the last fully scored lap. Any cars involved in an incident at that point are scored at the rear. Caution laps generally do not count, but OSCAAR may decide to start counting caution laps; if this happens, it will be announced on the Race Control frequency. Original starts and restarts are double file. The leader is the control car and chooses inside or outside on restarts; all cars must hold their lane and position until crossing the start/finish line. Super Late Models use the choose cone for restarts. Jumping the start or restart may result in a penalty at the discretion of Race Control. Yellow- and red-flag procedures cover how cars line up, when work may be done on cars, and when anyone is allowed on the racing surface; repeated involvement in cautions, causing a deliberate caution, or ignoring the black flag can lead to penalties, including disqualification. Rough driving and avoidable contact are not tolerated. Cars causing a non–“racing incident” caution may be sent to the tail or disqualified, and intentionally stopping to cause a caution carries a two-lap penalty. Drivers and/or spotters must monitor Race Control on the assigned frequencies, and two-way radios are allowed (and strongly recommended) in Modified and Hot Rod divisions.

Points, Substitutions & Rule Changes

OSCAAR Series Championship points are awarded to the registered car number/driver. The registered car number/driver with the most points at season’s end is the Drivers’ Champion. One driver substitution is permitted per season, per division, for any points-paying race. The substitute must be approved by the Competition/Race Director and must race with your tires and number if they are not using your car. All points earned by the substitute go to the regular driver. With prior approval, a driver may miss a race for a valid reason and receive last-place points (no purse). Up until post-qualifying, if you have an unrepairable mechanical issue confirmed by the Competition/Race Director, you may compete in another car using your tires; the car and driver will start at the rear. If you do not start the feature and have no approved substitution, you receive last-place points and money. All teams that make every effort to qualify earn 30 “show-up” points. Heat race and feature points are awarded according to the published OSCAAR points charts, with bonus points for leading a lap and for leading the most laps. Rules and procedures may be amended or clarified as needed; reasonable notice of changes will be given, and any item not covered in the rulebook must be submitted to the Competition Director at least 30 days before it is used.
