PREVIEW: Beat the Clock Challenge at Flamboro Speedway

The off-season is just about over, as racecars will be hitting the track for the first time in competition against each other this coming weekend.

Saturday, May 9th will see OSCAAR take to Flamboro Speedway for the Beat the Clock Challenge, the first event on the calendar.

The first year for an event of this kind, it will offer a preview of what to expect from the OSCAAR divisions this season. Everybody knows how hard all the drivers have been working in the shop on their racecars, and this event will see some of those who are ready in competition for the first time in 2026.

Although it is a non-points event, bragging rights will be on the line as taking home the first win of the season shows you are ready to compete for more the rest of the year. It also proves to your competition that you have done your homework, and will be someone to watch when the series returns to Flamboro on May 23rd for the season opener.

The format for the event is the perfect combination of allowing teams to get additional practice laps, while also having a chance to collect some early prize money.

The Fyre Place & Patio Shop OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Bromley Automotive will compete in time trials, with the top three drivers sharing a $500 purse. Following time trials, the field will be lined up for a 25-lap feature event for their normal payout. As a non-points race, the emphasis will be purely on speed, performance, and the honour of being the first to visit Knightworks Design Victory Lane in 2026.

Both the Overkill Enterprises OSCAAR Modifieds and the JRS Auctions OSCAAR Super Late Models presented by Just Foam It will participate in two rounds of practice and time trials, each division battling for the fastest lap of the night. A $1,000 purse will be split among the top three drivers in each division, setting the stage for some of the most intense and competitive laps fans will see all year—where a tenth of a second can make the difference between cashing in or coming up short.

For fans in attendance, it won't just be the thrill of OSCAAR keeping you on the edge of your seat as the track has packed in a lot of action for a single night. They will be hosting the season openers for the Ontario Pro Challenge Series and Southern Ontario Modified Association, as well as the second night of competition this season for their own Mini Stocks and Pure Stocks.

For those looking to attend the event, the grandstands will open at 5pm with racing kicking off at 6pm. If you are unable to attend, be sure to tune in on Track Tune to listen in on what is happening.
