Track Spotlight - Sauble Speedway

The sun shining nicely in the sky, fast cars, and a beach - where can you go wrong with that combination?

This is exactly why OSCAAR staff, drivers, teams and fans have enjoyed going to Sauble Speedway over the years. Let's face it, the beach is not far from the track, just located five minutes down the road. So therefore it brings forth the perfect opportunity to camp for the weekend. You can spend a couple hours soaking up the sun in the sand, before heading down to take in a show at the track.

Once you are at the track, the tight confines of the track always put on a show, with several of their past events featuring late-race drama en route to seeing who picks up the checkered flag.

"It’s super exciting," Brad Holmes said. "I’ve obviously been a fan of OSCAAR for a long time. I have some personal ties and used to race under the OSCAAR banner so it has always had a special place in my heart. But it’s just such a unique three different series and they put on an incredible show no matter what is there. We’re lucky to have all three series both times they’re there this year, so we’re super excited about that.

"But from Super Lates to the Hot Rods and Modifieds, it’s some of the best racing in the province and so different with a variety of cars. All the drivers, from under the OSCAAR banner, the group that you have now, is incredible. There’s just a lot of talent and a lot of skill and everybody is great. It goes along with the values and morals that we have at Sauble so it’s a good fit."

OSCAAR is proud to be apart of Sauble Speedway's Beachfront Blitz and their third night of racing on their calendar. For the series, it will mark the second points-paying event of 2026 after the season opener at Flamboro Speedway a couple weeks prior.

It will be an exciting night of action as all three divisions will be in attendance - the JRS Auctions OSCAAR Super Late Models presented by Just Foam It, Overkill Enterprises OSCAAR Modifieds, and The Fyre Place & Patio Shop OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Bromley Automotive.

Although those three divisions will certainly put on a show, Sauble Speedway has also added the Southern Ontario Modified Association (SOMA) to continue tickling everyone's love of open-wheel cars. While the OSCAAR Modifieds are eight-cylinders, SOMA Modifieds are smaller with only four-cylinders.

It will be a long wait to get back to the beach, but it will be worth it as OSCAAR will be apart of the track's inaugural Riptide weekend. There will be racing at Sauble Speedway from Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20 with a total of 11 different divisions on-track throughout.

"It’s super exciting," Holmes commented. "We were kind of in a lucky spot where that weekend became available and I’ve had a lot of really great conversations, especially with people, about that playoff season and being a part of it and Sauble having a very good presence in it. So very, very excited that we have the honor of having OSCAAR there, especially for the inaugural one.

"It could be another marquee event and again, we have all three series there. So whatever tickles your fancy, you’re all the way in - you’ll be able to find something. So really cool to have everybody but specifically for me, like I said, soft spot for OSCAAR, in being part of our inaugural rip tide weekend."

As Holmes mentioned, the Saturday portion of Riptide weekend will feature all three OSCAAR divisions - Super Late Models, Hot Rods, and Modifieds - with their full qualifying and features.

The night also will include the Ontario Sportsman Series and Outlaw Midgets, as well as their home-track late models qualifying for Sunday's Jeff Cassidy Memorial.
