TJ Edwards Hopeful for "Better Luck" This Season

After having his season not end on the note he would have hoped for, it’s no secret TJ Edwards is ready to get to the track and kick off the 2026 JRS Auctions OSCAAR Super Late Models presented by Just Foam It campaign.

I'm hoping for some better luck,” he commented. “We’re starting early this year so it should be a better year. We had speed at the end, but I think we need a little more speed to start here and grow on that.”

Last season marked Edwards’ rookie campaign in the Super Late Models after having success in Overkill Enterprise OSCAAR Modified competition the past couple years.

“It wasn't a lot different,” he admitted. “The biggest thing was more the speed and then just trying to figure that stuff out. There's more going on with the supers than the mod but I got really good people behind me that are helping me. I’ve got Brian McDonald, AP on my motors and all my crew so that's not a hard transition to do.”

With the experience gained last year, Edwards feels he needs to improve upon his restarts and qualifying as he feels they’ve got a “good long run car.”

Having seen the No. 34 Modified in victory lane at both Sauble Speedway and Peterborough Speedway, it should not surprise anyone to see those tracks circled on the 2026 SLM schedule for Edwards.

Even with having made the move to Super Late Models, Edwards is not leaving modified competition behind. He ran select events last season for Tyler Liscum, and will be doing the same for the 2026 campaign.

The past series champion was able to pick up a couple checkered flags in Sunset Speedway’s weekly competition while rebounding for a runner-up at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic after an early spin.

“He’s awesome,” Edwards spoke of Liscum. “I can’t ask for a better person. Every time I call him and ask him anything, he’s always been a huge supporter of mine and it’s great to have that relationship.”
