Jason Keen Set for a Season of Speed, Fun, and Fierce Competition

After a solid Overkill Enterprise OSCAAR Modified campaign last season, it's no surprise to hear that Jason Keen is excited for 2026.

"My thoughts going into the season are to have fun and I’m excited for good competition in the series," he commented.

Looking ahead to the schedule, the season opener at Jason Keen with the Brian McLean Memorial is circled for him on May 23. The Hamilton-based oval is his favourite track on the tour, as it's close to home so his family can come out and support him.

Keen put together a solid 2025 campaign, placing fourth in the year-end standings after capturing a pair of victories, both of those coming at Flamboro.

"Looking back on last season, one thing we would like to try and improve is starting every feature and staying in the points," he reflected. "I think one thing my team and I can do to be faster this year is really working on consistency. Last season, we had the car working great and sometimes not as well; so this year, we will be working on having a good set up at every track."

Seeing Keen continue with the modifieds is no surprise, as he has always been a fan of open-wheel racing from when he started in go-karts, and likes the "speed and challenge" of the series. Open-wheel is also something that is in his blood, dating back to his grandfather Bob Keen running super modifieds. It is due to his grandfather that he runs the No. 18 weekly.

After starting in go-karts at a young age, he kept down the open-wheel path in transitioning into the Canadian Vintage Modified Series for a number of years.

"Our biggest step going from CVM to OSCAAR was the challenge of setting up the car with the independent front suspension," he commented.

Looking back at those numbers of years in CVMs, he says the most memorable moment was his first championship.

"We had engine problems during our first race, and spent the whole season trying to catch up," he recalled. "In the end, it came down to the last race and we won by one point! It’s a meaningful memory to me because it was a long season full of hard work and fun times, with an amazing outcome in the end."
