Hawn Brothers Ready to Battle Each Other in Hot rod

“I think it's going to be awesome to support each other and beat the doors off each other and you know, Sundays and Mondays might be pretty quiet at the shop but by the time Tuesday comes around, I think we'll be all right.” - Tyler Hawn

Fans have grown used to seeing the Hawn name up front in OSCAAR competition with Tyler Hawn being a multi-time The Fyre Place & Patio Shop OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Bromley Automotive Champion and race winner.

Those same fans will need to get used to seeing a new name at the front with him, as his little brother Daniel Hawn will be joining him on-track this season.

"I'm very excited to race with Tyler," Daniel said. "I just wish dad was around to see this because I never thought I'd be racing against him but his season will change after the first practice session and we realize is that we're a little bit faster.”

Although the brothers have committed to helping each other in the shop, the trash talk will be there - as it has been since they bought the car for the season.

“I’m really excited,” Daniel continued. “I don’t think there will be any issues. Obviously, there will be hard racing. The helmet goes on and we both really really want to win but I'm just super excited to share the track with my brother.”

Even though it may be the rookie campaign for Daniel, his focus will be chasing after wins after proving he can get the job done behind the wheel of a super stock with a podium finish at The Last Dance at Sunset Speedway, and running up front at the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway.

I think a lot of these guys will be surprised,” Daniel shared. “They think I'm just a midget driver but my dad's blood's in me and we're going to show them what we can do.”

Daniel enters the 2026 OSCAAR campaign after having a lot of success in Midget competition over the past several years. He began his racing career in picking up the OSCAAR Pro Sprint Championship, before moving to the T.Q. Can-Am Midgets. He picked up five feature wins and 10 heat race checkered flags en route to the series championship.

“The biggest thing is slow it down a little bit because the midgets like I've said this time in and time out, they're the fastest one of the fastest cars on asphalt,” he explained. “There's lots of power, lots of braking and the biggest thing is just feathering the throttle because in the midgets, it's just to the floor each and every lap so I gotta learn a little bit more patience. I think with a Midget, you can go three- and four-wide, but there's not a lot of outside lane tracks out there. It's just you need a little bit of lady luck and I think that we got a lot of that in our stables so I'm just super excited about it.”

His older brother Tyler had a successful 2026 campaign in his own right, in winning both the OSCAAR Hot Rod and Sunset Speedway Hot Rod Championships.

"It's a ton of work,” Tyler reflected. “I think it was like 22 races - we've done that for two years in a row and by the end of the season, we're just burnt out because we're in the shop every single night till at least midnight. Like a lot of people try to point the finger and oh you're cheating, and all that stuff. Nobody understands the amount of time we put in.

“So we did get our goal last year, and obviously our goal this year is championship again because you can win a lot of races, but when you get that final championship, that's what that's what matters to me. My dad was the same - you work hard all year and it'll show at the end of the year so we're excited to get this going you know and if I have to let my brother win one, you know I might do it…..

“No, at the end of the year, our goal is for another championship but also working hard all year and making gains on our program that we already have. So if we come out faster every week or every year, that's our goal.”

Looking ahead at the 2026 schedule for the Hot Rods, it is no surprise to hear both brothers are excited to make the trip to Peterborough Speedway twice this year. Although Tyler admits that he loves all the tracks on the schedule as |they all have their own unique things I love about them.”
